Abstract | [00:30]Peter brought in his grandfathers bass drum that had been played in various dance halls and banquet halls inbetween WWI and WWII. [01:00] He talked about how his grandfather would play polka and folk dances and his family would come with him. When it got late the kids would just sleep in and around the stage, which sometimes included sleeping under the stage. [02:08]Peter's grandfather was apart of the local municipal band. His grandfather left music so he could focus on dairy farm and kept the drum in the attic. [04:30]The band was a family band. Peter also mentioned while he wasnt involved in music himself during the 1970's and 1980's his last name became a recognizing factor in his life for the people that came before him. [05:00) Peter talks about his distant cousin who peformed in jazz and swing bands for dance halls starting in 1939. |
