| Abstract | [00:00] UWEC alumnus, graduated in 1975 with a degree in Music Ed. Last president of the Musical Arts Coral, also apart of many other musical organizations, most notably the Master Singers. [00:59] She brought scrapbooks filled with pictures, clippings, and articles from the past 40 years. She talked briefly about her involvement in college musical organizations and her career in education before launching into her involement within the Master Singers. [03:20] She discussed the wide reach of Eau Claire's chorale societies, as they toured all over the state while she was in school, [07:40] including particular concerts of note. [09:20] She also focused on the Master Singers' European tours which happened in the 2000s (Specifically mentioning The Vatican, and Paris and London). [11:26] Also discussed her singing at the 50 year anniversary of JFK's assassination at the Kennedy Center in D.C. Her singing at the Kennedy Center was her moment that she "made it". [13:12] She hopes that this event will continue the learning from history, and foster interest and inspire young people. [16:00] Her opinion on the recent revitizaliztion in Eau Claire was her belief that people turn to the arts in times of political turmoil, as people are looking for something to positively effect their life. [17:44] She finished by emphasizing the dedication to music and longevity of groups in Eau Claire, and compared the many chorale directors of Eau Claire to Vince Lombardi (as she grew up during that era). |
