Abstract | Owner and operator of Nate's Dungeon. [02:00] Nate's Dungeon was a venue from 2000-2012 that operated out of the basement of his mothers house. He was only 14 years old when he began operations. He started the venue by chance after a group lost their venue in Milwaukee. to The venue played all types of music including, but not limited to, punk rock, heavy metal, and indie music. Nate talked about how he wanted to keep the humble beginnings of the Dungeon throughout its time once it became a known entity. [07:35] Nate mentioned one of his favorite bands was the Namniotics because they contacted him to play in the Dungeon after an article from VolumeOne was posted and caught the bands attention. [20:35] He notes that the greatest show ever was not actually at the Dungeon becasue it got shut down to the one and only noise complaint, so they moved the show to a local Taco Johns on Water St. that no longer exists. He ended the Dungeon in 2012 because he was trying to move onto the next chapter of his life. He considered some of the venues, including his dungeoun, to be apart of the shift away from Eau Claire's music scene being "vanilla". |
